Biography:
Sam has been on the team the longest after Timeus and Aradia. He replaced a rather inept technician that the Alliance assigned when Timeus was first given a post. The original technician accidentally vaulted himself into space while attempting to fix an airlock. Aradia found Sam on a rescue mission on a pirate ship and assumed he was a civilian due to his age (and because he pretended to be one). Shortly after the mission was over Sam rewrote the base code of the ship and attempted to redirect it to a pirate ambush.

It was Timeus who figured out that there was more to Sam than meets the eye. After following his actions for a while, Timeus managed to trick Sam into giving the pirates the wrong coordinates. He then confronted Sam privately. No one really knows what happened in that discussion other than Timeus and no one asks. The end result is that Sam joined the team and played the part of rescued whiz kid, even managing to achieve a military ranking (though how that happened, when for all intents and purposes Sam is underaged, is a secret that Sam and Timeus will probably take to their graves).
